Nitin Desai Passes Away By Suicide, Art Director Found Hanging At ND Studios In Karjat- Read REPORTS
Bollywood’s renowned art director Nitin Chandrakant Desai left for his heavenly abode on Wednesday morning. He passed away just days before his 58th birthday on August 9th. He died by suicide. According to a report by the Free Press Journal, he hung himself to death. He was found hanging at his own studio, ND studio located in Khalapur Raigarh near Karjat. 

If the reports are to be believed his body was found by some of his employees who then informed the police. The police are yet to officially share further details about his cause of death. The investigation in the matter is ongoing. Desai’s untimely passing has left the Indian entertainment industry by shock. He had made a name for himself as an art director and production designer in the Marathi as well as Hindi film industry.


Born in Dapoli, he studied at the J.J. School of Art and L.S.Raheja School Of Arts and trained in photography before he joined the film industry. His work started gaining recognition with the Vidhu Vinod Chopra directorial 1942 A Love Story, which starred Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff and Manisha Koirala in lead roles. 

From then on he went on to art directed classic movies like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999), Devdas (2002), Lagaan (2001), Jodhaa Akbar (2008), Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015) and many more. He has been awarded with the National Film Award for Best Art Direction four times and the Filmfare Best Art Direction Award three times in his career.

The entertainment industry is busy mourning his loss.
